STFU. I see the Coast Guard and other rescuers making every effort to rescue people regardless of color. It's not a question of want it is a question of logistics ass.

mad props to them.....it's jsut sad that everybody cannot get help:(

It is the state governor who has the authority to make things happen.

Now, before we go on and on and on about whether or not all of this is happening because they are black, or whatever...

HERE is an interesting perspective to read.

State Leadership failed... I will say it again.

Aye..it did:(

Right couple cutters arn't providing food and water to Superdome has thousands of refugees starving and dehydrating from lack of water and food. Anit stopping the rampant lawlessness. We could do with ease but we are failing. Like you know anything about logistics. We mounted a take over of a country halfway around the world in weeks, this is child play in comparison. That reminds me - If we wert pissing away 200Billion and 150,000 troops on a fools mission in Iraq they could be available to help our own people as well.

GooseMaster...

I posted in the ... where is the leadership? thread... three links about the stupid, stupid decisions and lack of actions these two made that cost everyone (refugees/rescuers) so dearly.

I Forgot one... where the governor said that repair and rescue come first before looters. And when the animals saw that as a green light... she was VERY slow to do anything about it. Didn't do anything important until today.

C'mon. Pay more attention when you watch the news.
FEMA was all set to go. Our wonderful federal agency had all sorts of things planned out.

But, after the hurricane passed, they couldn't get in because there were some trees across the road, and well, uhh, they didn't have chainsaws??

It still takes time to get National Guard units organized and mobilized. It's only been a couple of days and the units are beginning to arrive in force today. It takes time to get the Navy ships from the east coast or west coast over to New Orleans. It has only been a couple of days.

And STFU already about Iraq. Over 50% of National Guard forces are left in the States for just such emergencies. We're looking at something like 30k National Guardsmen and even the 82nd Airborne going into NO.

This has been a horrible situation and the b!tching ain't gonna make it better. If you want to play Monday Morning QB wait until all the people have been evacuated out of NO and the dead have been counted. Now is not the time.

Dude you need to listen to what the professionals say instead of talking out if your ass.

Start here
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/9166531/

Terry Ebbert, head of New Orleans's emergency operations:

"This is a national disgrace. FEMA has been here three days, yet there is no command and control," Ebbert told the Associated Press as he watched refugees evacuate the Superdome yesterday. "We can send massive amounts of aid to tsunami victims, but we can't bail out the city of New Orleans. We have got a mayor who has been pushing and asking, but we're not getting supplies."

Rep. Charles W. Boustany Jr., (R-La.), said he spent the past 48 hours urging the Bush administration to send help. "I started making calls and trying to impress upon the White House and others that something needed to be done," he said. "The State resources were being overwhelmed, and we needed direct federal assistance, command and control, and security -- all three of which are lacking."

Saying the rescue forces are doing a good job is like saying looting is fine, expected, something you have to live with. Nothing happened in four days. I think that's inadmissible, given everybody knew something like this could happen. It was clear the Country was not prepared to respond.

Now, if Canada would decide to invade us next summer, they would be pretty confident they would just drive down the interstates. By the time someone would act, they would be having BBQ in Memphis.

Exactly. The expensive hotels managed to get buses to evacuate their guests. They were blocked by some "authority." If they can drive buses all the way down to the French Quarter....

Mr. Ebbert and the mayor of N.O. are going to have to explain why hundreds of buses sat unused during the mandatory evacuation. Frankly, I'm beginning to think this was a massive failure by local and state officials prior to the storm.

Also, I watching an interview with some of the National guardsmen in that massive convoy carrying supplies today. They said they had been on the road for two days. Figure another day or two to get the tons of food and supplies loaded on the trucks. Then figure another day or so to get these NG units mobilized and organized.

Nobody is happy about the time it took but it sounds like they were moving as fast as possible.

:(

Of course it would, a national state of emergency would have been declared, the entire nation would have been excused from work to head to this affluent city to help out all because it was a white affluent city.:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

Truly, it was an issue of income bracket rather than race. Race is only a factor out of coincidence rather than intent.

Regardless, it is awful down there:(
