frivolous nested quoting is actually bannable. Mods pull out the nuke button when people start getting stupid with it.

Personally it doesn't really bother me.

I've been away from ATOT for quite a few months. One thing I've noticed A LOT of is quoting without "cleaning" up before making the post. Is it the new "quick reply" tool that is making people lazy? I've never seen such ridiculous quoting in my whole Intarweb Forum-lurker career:

And that's not the worst of it! This was just a quickie example I parsed. So just a reminder to all -- can we clean up the quotes before we make our post official? No need to quote 10 or 15 layers deep.

Okay, I'm done now.

I agree!

Yeah when it gets that long it's just hard to read.

then the quotes themsevles get all messed up.

I can still read it no problem.

Fixed for the OP.

I may be able to get a even dozen by the time I am done

The lack of understanding amazes me.

I hope that you are thanking me for the 1 WK vacation that you just earned.

I would think threads like these lighten up a pretty frustrating job for Mods. I mean, if I were a Mod, I'd be laughing my ass off at the idiots that are all but asking for a ban!

Meh... seems kind of lame to be banning for doing the nested quotes in this thread. That was obviously going to happen due to the OP. Anytime anyone posts a thread saying "stop doing X", people always respond with X. Yet I've never seen anyone banned for it before. Just lock thread if you don't want the nested quotes.

Nope, not gonna do it. If it bothered the board owner he could change it. 😉

Feel free to quote me. 😛

ARRR!!! I quote thee!!

Agreed, and if you're going to ban people for reacting as expected, poster should get a ban equal to all the bans in the thread combined.

Anyone that has nested quotes more than 2 deep in this thread is now on vacation for a week for Neffing quotes.

😀🙂

Threads like this are like big strips of Nefpaper hanging from the ceiling of ATOT, while the mods stand around to personally pick each little Nef-fly off, pluck off their wings, and flush them down the toilet.

Thinning the herd.

So rather than to just lock a thread that will just ask for nested quoting, and that has been reposted a thousand times, mods decide to just leave it open to ban people. Reminds me of the change of culture thread.

The way of the mod amazes me.

I am confident in saying that your amazement won't last much longer. The way you run your mouth is sure to bring out the permaban stick. Keep it up.
