I agree w/ the people who say that people have different priorities. Since this is AT, I would assume most of the people complaining would prioritize a new video card over a pair of jeans or a new jacket. It doesn't matter to me either way. The fashion people would probably argue that they don't see a need to improve their computing performance.

A&F might be pricey most of the time, but they also have sales just like the other higher end mass retailers like Banana or J Crew. People who prioritize clothing low on their lists would most likely miss these kinds of opportunities as they are few and spread out during the year. It's just like the Hot Deals for clothing.

wtf. they make great clothing... they ARE expensive, but abercrombie makes nice looking and long lasting clothes. I'm sick and tired of hearing people complain at abercrombie. if you don't like them so much, just don't shop there. stop wasting your time with these posts.

I totally agree with you. I would rather pay 60 dollars for a pair of shorts that have lasted me for three years (thats with wearing them while hunting, fishing, and anything else) than pay 10 dollars for a pair that will be nothing but sh1t in 6 months. If someone thinks that their clothes are too expensive...then don't buy it. You can wear whatever you want to wear and if Abercrombie wants sell to only certain groups of people then let them and just shut the fvck up!

I just want to say that I bought a pair of generic shorts over 3 years ago for $20. Actually I have 2 pairs. They are still good. I have a $15 t-shirt from 9 years ago (ok so it's got a huge rip in it, but that was caused by a hook and 60 lbs). I have a free t-shirt from 3 years ago that is still perfectly fine as well. In fact, most of my clothes have been worn for years on end, no matter where I got them from.

I don't care where and how much you paid for your clothes. That's your business. But I've heard the durability argument for clothing before, and it sounds like rationalization for paying a lot more money for a brand. Honestly, how durable do your clothes have to be? Even if you were a construction worker, I would imagine you would have 1 set of work clothes so you don't mess up your regular clothes. Besides, fashion changes so often that by the time the next trend comes around, you'll be wishing your clothes were worn out. I know I do.

now wtf, that hat had a big ass rip in it, part of it looked it it was about to fall off.

thanks for reminding me.. my friend bought a fishhat from AF that looked like two pieces and I asked him "What the hell is that?"

His answer was, "I got it from AF, it's an awesome looking fishhat."...

... pretty funny considering I could just get a no-brand name fishhat and do the same and put AF logos there and say I got it from AF as well..

aside from that, the clothing's okay.. nothing too spectacular.. i only go there to buy gifts with my other friends who always shop..

You had better be living in the middle of BFE and there better be nothing but a walmart for at least 100 miles. That is all.

I think all you ATOTers that spend money on expensive computer parts are crap! I mean why by a silly dual Xeon and 9800Pro just so you can get 5000+ more points on your silly 3dMark2001 while in reality you're not even using it for any server or workstation purposes! I mean, why couldn't everyone just buy small Epox motherboards and Durons so that your can make your finances work elsewhere like your kids or your house payments! [/sarcasm]

I don't wear abercrombie. I get compliments on the stuff I get from Taget and Goodwill over anything from Gap, AE or similiar. Those expensive stores don't have cool cereal t-shirts with Smacks and the Trix rabbit on them :)

If someone makes fun of you for not wearing abercrombie tell them to f off. It's so stupid.

I fell bad for kids who buy AF stuff. Their just buying the stuff to try and prove to everyone, 'hey look at me, I can blow spend $$ on over priced clothes like everyone else.' These kids are just following the herd, I feel bad for them really. Thank god that when I went to high school back in 92-96, the whole AF thing hadn't taken off yet, and even if it was around and I knew about it I could of cared less as it just ain't my style of clothes. I don't know, but it just seems when I think of AF, I always think of 16 year old teenage girls from Georgia dressed from head to toe in AF with daddies Mastercard.

Call me crazy, but buying a Polo Yarmouth dress shirt for $40 or so, is a lot more stylish/classy than anything I'd ever get at AF.

And thats my $0.02

i am asian i shopped at AF once, i saw some other asians there. this was before i knew about the racist thing. the clothing are really really overpriced. i bought one pair of shorts for 40 bucks. but the good thing is that i have had those shorts for 2 years and they are still really really good. i dont know, they should lower the price at least to GAP level.

they used to sell sporting goods. big sporting goods company...back in the beginning of last century. supposedly had a casting pool at the top of their place so you could test out equipment.

more on topic: eh, good for a company for knowing how to make money. sick but the american way.

Ok, yes i could bash other brand names I suppose, but i chose this one, since in my opinion, it's the worst with all this sh!t right now, are their cloithing brands that costs much more? Yes, and they the type of companies though, that are blatently racist, and sell u that crap? Well maybe because i honestly don't know but i don't got a problem with just their prices, but things like people only buying from them, thinking they aren't worth anything if they don't or who cry if they parents wont let them and so on.

The whole thing I was trying to get at was not even the price or style, but the fact that they plaster their name on everything, I know companies like Nike do that too, and I don't particularly like that either, and nike is actually mainly a show company which is a whole nother story bout marketing and crap.

how can you say that ABERCROMBIE is racist. Look at all those other clothing stores like Fubu, Rocawear, etc... Not trying to be racist myself...but the majority of people that wear those brands are black.

So how is that racist when the majority of one ethnicity wears a brand, such as FUBU?

No i mean they had racist images and words on thier shirts.

No they didn't now shut the hell up.

I think it's ironic that the big gripe about A+F is that they're overpriced, and Wetcat007 shops at Hot Topic....

Umm, is Kleptomaniac a store for gays? If not, their frontpage scared me away.

I think it definately is:

Rainbow Enamel Silver Pendant
Rainbow Enamel Ring
Pleasure Wipes
The True Story of the Chippendales' Murders
Queer as Folk: The Complete First Season
On the Bus " Finally ... an all-gay "Real World"! "
Gay to Z of Sex

Wow. I think you should really re-examine whether or not you're gay, Nebor. The evidence is pretty strong that you are, if you do "a lot of your shopping" there.

austin316, your gay-dar was right on. I knew something looked fishy from that front page.

regarding AF being to expensive... well, if the people have the money, let them buy what they want. usually, the person is working, or has rich parents so he has option of shopping wherever he/she wants. however, if money becomes a factor, then it's obviously a problem and either the parents or the buyer needs to not spend as much.

in terms of appearance, it's all about taste, as many other people have said. the only gripe i have, is that people buy these clothes in order to fit in or look like their friends. they should express their individuality instead of conforming.

personally, i don't shop at af or american eagle, but i do stop by and check them out every once in a while when they have good deals. i mostly shop at kohls, target, and jcpenney, where pants are usually under $20 and shirts under $15. i have better things to spend my money on, and in MY OPINION, most of their stuff is crap or not worth the money. there's my 2 cents.

Millenim, you are gay

It really depends on what you like. Personally, I'd hate spending 50 bucks on some Polo or Tommy Hillfiger shirt. I'd rather spend 25 bucks on a worn out t-shirt ;)

your actions fit your name..

and also, just because one nationality seems to wear a clothing brand more than others doesn't mean they're racist..

I'll stick to my Perry Ellis clothes for when I want to look nice, and my thrift store khaki/cargo jeans + tshirt look for everything else.

well wetcat i agree with you... i myself do hate the modern state of teen/young adult culture of wearing whats trendy in order ot gain social acceptance... i even go so far as to mock such culture. where i live, socal, some popular slang terms have been "beat" meaning disgusting, and "pullin" which means that something "works" or is "cool" and such... I made my own shirt that on the front said "that's so beat" and on the back said "so not pullin"... i know those i was aiming to mock were to stupid to understand, but afterward, i felt like i'd done my deed to at least bring some level of awareness...

The only time I notice a brand of clothing is when the name is plastered all over it.
