This Ranking was requested by the EU to be done by the university of Shanghai. Funny how the UC are so well ranked in this study while US news always puts them lower in the rankings.

Wow, I can't believe the U-M is #21 on that list! That's awesome, and I feel so honored to be a student here!

UT is 47
Rice is 61
A&M 70
Baylor tied 102-151

Boo hisss they didn't even rank my school in the world top 50 =( It did make the US top 50 but that's lame and only at 47 =(

NO NO NO!

Although I actually disagree with the method US World and News uses to rank High Schools I think their methods are different for colleges from what I've read so I think it's A-OK. And yes I am biased since my school ranks a lot higher on the US World and News chart =P

Why are there numerous schools on the Top 100 American Universities list that are outside the U.S.? 😕

Last time I checked America is a CONTINENT. American = referring to Universities in the American continent

Are they in Canada, Mexico, or any Central/South American countries?

Ah, I see, it includes both North and South America. I rarely see those referred to collectively as just "America".

I think the thing is that many rankings we see for US schools are undergrad. These consider grad as well, in which case Berkeley is expected to excel.

Actually most rankings in the US go off doctoral studies or if broken down into fields, graduate studies/professional schools. This world list is based off different standards than american rankings, they based it off of nobel prize winners, articles published, articles published, highly cited researchers, and academic preformance per faculty. I dont know how the rankings done by US publications work.
