I was just thinking about all the game's that have come and gone and just wanted to see how many people looked back on the "Good ol days" of gaming. Was wondering what everyone's favorite online games where. 1-5 only since 1-10 might be a bit hard for some.

1. The Eternal City MUD (when it was free)
2. WoW (I couldn't put this on my number 1 slot...but its pretty damn close)
3. Star Wars Galaxies
4. Netstorm
5. Runescape

I'm sure there are some ancient threads containing this type of information.

Now your biggest dissapointment in MMO experience?

1. Age of Conan
2. WAR (was decent but still...could have been AMAZING)
3. Most WoW expansions (rose tinted glasses on pre-BC wow?)
4. Star Wars Galaxies (LoL after it got jacked up)
5. Tabula Rasa
6. Auto Assault

1. Everquest
2. Eve
3. Wow
4. WAR
5. Lineage 2

Biggest disappointments are

1. Age of Conan (first 20 levels were amazing then it turned to shit)
2. WoW Expansions dumbed down the game more and more (my dog currently has a 80 hunter)
3. RF Online
4.FF 11 (man I wanted to love this game but when it first came out I wanted to beat a pack of baby seals cause of its UI)

Best
1. Anarchy Online
2. Wow
3. SWG

Worst
1. E&B
2. Conan - what a POS
3. D&D

I rank these in the order of the time I spent playing them.

I've played tons more, but they're not really worth mentioning.

Best?

1) Gemstone 3
2) Magestorm
3) Everquest (sort of)
4) City of Heroes
5) Eve

Worst?
1) Vanguard
2) Asherons Call 2
3) Age of Conan
4) Lineage 2
5) WoW

The way I rate this is by how well the game was designed in perspective of it's release and how much fun I had with it at the time. For example, I think as of right now Everquest is a horrible game, but when it first came out it was amazing for what it was. It kept me playing endless long hours, missing sleep to barely make it to work, and dreaming about it up until Scars came out. That is not to say I didn't see its faults nor was colorblind to many glaring bad game play aspects. Now you couldn't get me to go back to play that game at all though.

I will say that at this time, no MMO I consider all that good right now. None of them on the market. Right now I'm barely playing Allods and Alganon just for something to do, but they aren't all that great. I am refusing from now on to give my good money to badly developed games. Now the free games I can handle for now such as Allods or Penumbruum and betas.

Best

1. Everquest (rose colored glasses? quite possibly)
2. City of Heroes
3. Vanguard (Games pretty good now, that it actually has a little polish)
4. Atlantica Online (this is called bang for the buck. Great game, for being free)
5. Aion (Since i've played so slowly, I haven't gotten to the point of the game where it turns alot of people off. I'm close to it now though, so if asked 2 months from now, I might say it sucks)

Worst

1. Ultima Online (yeah, I know, its sort of the holy grail. But, I only played for a couple months, right before Everquest came out. And then only cause my Team Fortress clan was really into it. I didn't particularly care for it though, and quit as soon as EQ came out)
2. Sword of the New World (there is alot about this game I actually like. Alot of interesting concepts thrown in. But, this game has a murderous grind, couple with a serious lack of quests. I really want to love the game. I just can't)
3. Silk Road (I think was the name of it? I really didn't even try to remember it, it was that bad)
4. Champions (they wouldn't have had to do much for me to love this game. Instead, I can only say "how dissapointing")
5. I'm actually having trouble coming up with a number 5. I don't hate Warhammer or AOC, but I did get tired of them. In fact, thats the case with most games out there. I could list LoTR, but I didn't dislike it, it was actually decent. But, it didn't wow me like I thought it would, so it was rather dissapointing. Perhaps I can toss out a Sims Online here (although I never played it, just watched a friend play it for 15 minutes. I could never figure out the actual point of that game)

Best: Asheron's Call. I loved that game so much no other MMORPG even comes close.

It's one of my favorite all-time games of any type.

2) WoW and AC2 were equally fun for a short time (about 3-5 months).
3) DAoC was ok

I tried the Star Wars one right after the redo and didn't like it at all.

I think those are the only ones I really ever played.

If you have enough time to play more than one (maybe two) MMOs concurrently then I'm guessing you're unemployed.

You forgot your list, but I think I remember it from last time you were talking about it so I'll help you out.

Best
Sheep poking
Sheep dog poking
Sheep herder poking

Worst
Poked by sheep herder
Chased by kangaroo
Hobbits

Every MMO I've played has had fun moments and it's tough to come up with a top 5. I suppose ranking could be based on average fun overall, or most fun moments, or best value, or the longest time it keeps you interested, or even how glad you are that to have played it. Here's my list based on my own weightings of those "best" indicators, but YMMV.

#1) DDO. I loved the skill (manual aiming) vs. stats (d&d attributes) balance where anybody can succeed but it takes a lot of skill and practice to excel. I also loved the D&D ruleset which allows for incredible variety between potential builds (min-maxers dream). It also has the highest number of fun moments by far even though I played it less time overall than many others. Having the floor fall out from under your party because the rogue missed a trap is awesome.

#2) Asheron's Call. I thought this was a completely amazing game when it was released in nearly every way. It was an original world, story and creatures with tons to do and enough unpredictability in the combat system to keep things uncertain. The magic system took an effort to learn but was excellent, and even things like vitae penalties felt appropriate for the time. Also, the PvP implementation was perfect and overall behavior was extremely civil because PvP was always there as an option.

#3) Star Wars Galaxies (pre-holocrons). I enjoyed the RvR fighting tremendously as a member of a large imperial PvP guild who constantly raided anchorhead. Building our own base in the middle of tatooine was great, as was the constant fighting with the rebels who were trying to destroy it. Holocron grinding destroyed it for me long before the combat update, but the real culprit was the decision to unlock jedi through profession grinding which killed the RvR as soon as it was made public.

#4) Shattered Galaxy. SG was a MMORTS that really succeeded in combining RPG elements into persistent RTS battles. Both your units and your commander would gain experience which would make them stronger and allow them to equip better gear. The regiment and faction system was great with an intriguing emphasis on politics. Of course, nexon ultimately removed all the fun aspects of the game in favor of making sure everybody was on a more even playing field.

#5) LOTRO. I'm not sure I could identify any one part of LOTRO as amazing but as a whole it has been consistently good since launch. The expansions have been great and added content and classes without damaging the underlying game. The PvP implementation has never interested me and thus it doesn't have an endgame, but at the same time I've probably gotten the most total fun out of it overall.

As for worst, none of the MMOs I've played have been a waste of money. AC2 is the one I've enjoyed the least since I felt that it omitted many of the things that made AC1 so great. I enjoyed AoC, WAR and Aion which I see on many people's worst lists.

1. Ultima Online - Skill based MMO like this has yet to be duplicated.

2. Everquest - The first 3D MMO. I lived, slept, breathed, drank, pissed Everquest. It was epic for it's time and started this whole level-based MMO shindig.

3. World of Warcraft - I know this is a love/hate thing for most, but I loved WoW. It was really something new when released. Yet to be knocked from the plateau of most popular MMO ever. Don't see it losing that crown for a few more years at least.

4. DAOC - Massive PvP was a major hit. Unfortunately it was level and class based. It is almost impossible to balance class/level based PvP.

5. Eve - If you don't know why then you wouldn't understand anyways.

Do you remember your character or regiment? I haven't played in many years, but when I did it was as Muad'Dib in the regiment Blood Angels.

EQ (It is a love/hate relationship)
EQ2 (surprised how good it is apart from the button mashing and ugly chars)
LOTRO
DAOC
WoW (would have been higher before it was dumbed down so much and before instanced pvp)
