here's my current project.

i'm in the process of putting a door on my desk extension. why? because it looks cool.

anyways, i'm about halfway through now. next comes routing for mounting the screen mesh. i have 40% obstruction steel mesh to install in the window opening. (just round holes...) after that, positioning and drilling for the mounting hardware. (hinges, handle)

havent decided if i want the handle strait up and down, side to side, or 45 angle on the top left corner.

then final sanding, staining, laquering, sanding, laquering, sanding, laquering... mesh mounting, hardware mounting, and finally door mounting.

oh, and i have to install a doorstop at some point too.

got mesh cut out and "mounted". (set in place. havent figured out how i'm gonna secure it yet)

got the holes for the hinges drilled and hinges partially installed. set door in frame, got the other side installed, and test mounted the door.

now doing a burnin on my comp to make sure temps stay normal.

well, mostly done. i still gotta mount the grate permanently. now it's held in place by friction. i'm thinking i might solder some sort of a molded figure onto the front of it for effect.. just not sure what. gonna leave it as is till i figure out what i wanna do.

Nice. I wish I had some woodworking skill. This weekend I'm going to build a shelf and I'm almost certain to cock it up badly.

Your main desk doesn't have handles so why put handles on the extension? Or are you also going to add handles to the desk? I would use one of those magnetic door catches that hold the door closed magnetically and open by simply pressing on the door near the catch. I'm sure you have your heart set on building a door but a curtain would work nicely there too.

the only other thing i can think of aside from a woodshop project that would carry this title would be me standing around on a streetcorner sporting an obvious boner, and videotaping people's reactions.

but that's been done to death.

those things cost more money than a simple handle.

i have handles on the main desk, just not separate metal handles. i dont like the handles on the main desk, and would rather have proper metal handles.

i dont like the desk anyways.

Not really. Getting an extension at a desk is something most of us do routinely.
