Random totally blows on Winamp.. any cure?

I have about 1000 song and it plays about 50 songs in cycle over and over again...

It's pretty sad when I manually pick some songs that make me say.. "wow good song.. haven't heard it for awhile"

any cure for this? is there like a 3rd party random fix? The random morph rate doesn't do jack either in the preference section.

 

Are you using Winamp2 or Winamp3? Switching to either one might help...I'm using Winamp 2.81 and granted I only have about 100 songs, but it seems to shuffle fine. Winamp3 is nothing more than a glorified beta.

i know EXACTLY what you mean.

i may switch to Sonique or something and see how their shuffle thing is.

Ugh. I have 2500 on my list and it really sucks. Maybe I should make separate playlists or something.

 

Just checked the Winamp Developer website - and found this beta release:

made wasabi loader do IPC, wayyyyyyy faster now (no need to init dlls and do xml reading and whatnot just to enqueue a file)
renamed studio.exe to winamp3.exe finally
added /attrset switch
made shuffle choose from whole playlist, not just part (eventually it would choose them all but not at first)

hrm, unchecking the repeat button fixed it for me a while back... using 2.81

Yeah, I agree. I just don't like Winamp 3 at all. I'm sticking with 2.81 for now. I DO like the fact on how it plays a lot of file types (mp3, mpeg, avi, etc.) Cuz I would like a program all in one from Winamp, but I'm gonna give it some time before I make the switch.

Winamp 3 is a lot slower to load than winamp 2. Just my $0.02.

in the prefrences there is a tab for the shuffle. make shre its set to full

Winamp3 is brutal.. not a good player at all

Winamp2 is still the cool classic great player that it's always been though.. but the random DOES suck if you have more than an album or 2 in your PL.
