Hi guys I've got the following error . I recently upgraded my office's pc's with XP Pro ; Everything has gone pretty smoothly except for one thing :

There is one pc that just shuts down randomly for no reason at all . I have checked ACPI settings etc , but can't see anything that might be faulty .

Can anyone give me some pointers to look out for ?

System Specs

PIII 450
192 Mb Ram
4 Gb HDD
xp pro

Perhaps the PSU is failing, no errors in the event viewer? Have you eliminated heat related failure? good places to start

Open system properties by right clicking on 'my Computer' or by double clicking on 'system' in the control panel. Under the 'Advanced' tab find 'Startup and Recovery' and click 'Settings'. From here, make sure that 'Write an event to the system log' is checked, and that 'Automatically restart' is unchecked.
So it's just shutting down sponaneously? Or is it restarting? By default, WinXP will restart upon a stop error...if you have it set to write and event, you can view the information from the event viewer. If it's just shutting down, does it instantly turn off? Or, does it go through the shutdown procedure? What happens when you restart it? It's not going into hibernate, is it?

Thanks for the tips

I'll change the PSU and check whatever happens today . Spookyfish I think it only shuts down , not hibernate .

Any more tips appreciated 🙂
