Occasionally if I decide to go up stairs very fast in a fast "shot" skipping 3-4 stairs when I land on it, or if I used it to propel myself, I feel a sudden very sharp pain. The pain goes away within 30 seconds.

What could be the cause of this? I can do calf lifts with like 6x 45lb plates at the gym. Think that may be pushing it? Wondering if that's the cause.

I don't think it's any kind of bone damage like a fracture or anything, as I'm sure the pain would always be present, but it's not. It does feel like a bone type pain though. Hard to explain exactly where it is, but it's in the ankle somewhere.

Bruising from the impact?

Though I'm not even sure why you're asking; I would simply suggest not skipping stairs?

it sounds like you have a tendon that is snapping over a bony part when its muscle fully contracts. it goes right back in place when you relax, but the sensation lasts for a few seconds. stop leaping a bunch of stairs in a single bound and you should be fine.... or keep doing it and get tendinitis.

Yeah I know it's a bad habit, I always skip a bunch of stairs at once. :D So if I stop doing it it should go away? I just wanted to make sure it was nothing bad.

And the mouth wash thread was a serious question, why the big fuss?

without examining it and watching you do it, i can't tell you one way or the other. i'm just telling you what it sounds like to me.

Yeah kinda hard to do over the internet. Guess I'll be careful with it and if it does not go away I'll go see a doctor. I don't think it will end up getting to that point though. I'm almost positive it's the calf raises that did that. I probably pushed myself too far.
