random restarts...

New system without any OC.
running everything at stock and I get random restarts.

Q6600 (stock cooling for now... waiting on Zalman fan)
Gigabyte GA P35 DS3P
evga 8800GT
620W Corsair PSU
Antec 900 case
2 * 1Gig Corsair xms2 DDR2 800

also my ideal temp seems pretty high about 42 and when I run Prime95 temp goes up to 60 within matter of seconds
something wrong with this? or is it normal with stock cooling?

also my D: (cd/dvd drive) disappeared from "My Computer"

but it's still shown in BIOS and device manager

High temps and random restarts suggest that your CPU needs to be removed and the paste cleaned off. Then re-install the CPU, re-paste and install the HSF. See if that helps.

This makes me suspect the RAM as well. Run Memtest, but try NoelS' suggestion first.

Wish I had some help for you, but I'm experiencing the same issue (no disappearing DVD drive tho). I won't hijack your thread, but I will keep a keen eye on it for anything that may help me w/mine.

How long has your machine been together? Mine just started rebooting 3 days ago after working flawlessly for 2+ months.
