Random restarts seem to happen wheN I'm running BeyondTV and other desktop apps...

my highest load temp was 43C with the stock thermal crap on it

its the 939 socket chip and I dont have a load yet, I just know that under light working conditions i get up to 43. I think that I need to buy some AS5 and reapply the junk. What was I thinking using some random ass gunk! haha

Well that is high for idle temps, but load temps are more important. Also, it's unlikely that reboots are temp related, normaly overheating will make it shut down, not reboot. Have you run memetest to check for memory stablity? Installed all the neccessary drivers? Disabled automatic restarts, so you can actualy see a blue screen error when you get one.

how do I disable automatic restarts? is it possible to run memtest easily without a floppy?

Do you think that the restarts could be due to the wrong driver for my PCI Hauppage card being installeD? I have a PVR150MCE but for some reason it shows up as the wintv II or something like that

To disable automatic restarts, right click on my computer, properties, advanced, click settings under startup and recovery, uncheck the automaticly restart box. That way if you are getting a blue screen of death, it will show you the error message, and hopefuly the driver related to the issue(if it is indeed a driver).

You can download the ISO for memtest and boot it off a cd.

I just put in a Enermax Liberty 500W so I'm positive its not the PSU. I'm thinking that it really is my CPU overheating because it actually doesnt restart it just hangs and makes a long beeping sound. I couldnt get it to blue screen even though I changed that option.

So I did memtest and no errors...

Use Prime95 to test for problem. There are three modes. Run each for about 1 hour. The blend mode is good for testing RAM. Turn-off all items in MSCONFIG's startup tab and reboot PC. Test for stability. If PSU and RAM are okay, then you may have a software and/or driver conflict. You may want to strip the MB and all PCI/PCI-E slots. Connect only the mouse and keyboard. Retest to isolate hardware problem.

Wipe the hard drive and clean install Windows if you suspect a software issue. You can backup you C boot partition with an imaging software.
