So they gave me this stuipid alpha pager at work yesterday. I said no i dont want it, but i showed up anyway. Im sposed to have it all the time, im not sure what that means exactly but i dont plan on wearing it over the weekend so i hope that "weekend" isn't included in "all the time." Either way i had it all day yesterday and it didn't go off. So i was thinking, YES they screwed up the paging system and im not included in the mass pages that go out. Then about a quarter mile from my house the thing went off, scared the crap out of me and i almost plowed into the bank. and i look at it and it says "customer would like to know the status of WO ######. Geez, what a waste of a page. My only fear is that my employer will now page me instead of calling my cell when they want something important. /rant

Not really back in time. I didn't know it till i came here, but apparently Alpha pagers are really popular in healthcare. Its like having people email you crap at all times but you can't reply and say leave me alone. Also i hear that when certain equipment breaks it will start paging me until someone fixes it.

I recall leaving mine in my pocket. My wife washed it. It appeared to be working but no one paged me after that. The boss can't blame me for defects I guess.
