Depends on the car, and how long the light has been on :). My Sentra there is about 2 gallons left when the light turns on so 50-60 miles for that car. But my Impreza the light turns on at like 1/4 tank so there is still like 3-4 gallons in there of course I've modded the heck out of that car so 3-4 gallons doesn't last me long.

Havn't pushed it in my '05 Corolla yet & I'm too lazy to run outside to check the manual, but my '93 Volvo is good for 75+ miles from the first flash of the reserve light since it has like 3.7 gallons.

I've run my car with the gas light on for 40 miles at least 5 times, 50 miles at least 3 times, 65 miles once...

Ive never run out... Im guessing 80 is the max max

I filled up the 65 mile time and it took 14.85, supposed to be a 13.5 gallon tank

2 gallons left when the light comes on. When it hits E, I still have 4 - 5 gallons.

When my light comes on, I find the nearest Filling Station.
I sure don't want to run out, and also, it's hard on the fuel pump to not have enough gas to cool it.

My sister blew out a fuel pump by running out. I'd rather not find out myself. I fill before the light even goes on usually.

I have been told that you shouldn't drive with the light on for very long because the gas in the tank is what is used to cool your fuel pump. If you let the gas get too low the fuel pump heats up and can burn itself out. I don't how low the fuel has to get before you burn a fuel pump up but I do know that to get is replaced (if you don't do it yourself) costs from $300 to$400.

IIRC my truck's "e-light" comes on when the tank reaches 10-15% of its capacity. So that gives me somewhere between 3.5 and 5.5 gallons, which, unfortunately, is only 45 - 71 miles. (13 MPG avg.)

Yes, it's very painful to fill it up from "E". lol

But the truck get's used enough as a truck to justify it. (as opposed to a smaller vehicle)

My tank keeps ~2 gallons on empty, so that's not a prob. I know a guy who drives a ghetto car... his gas light is always on

2002 Civic. Light comes on with 2 gallons + fumes. So I get 60+ miles city and 80+ miles highway. Note: I usually only go 20 or so miles after it comes on though.

I have a V8, i don't push it to the light lol. I have a feeling that if i get to the light and hit the gas a little to hard ill stall out with no gas. I just fill up when it gets under a quarter of a tank.
