The japanese influence on console games released in the US is tiny. Compare the japanese games released in the US to the Japanese games just for Japan. The Japanese games released in the US and world wide are HIGHLY americanized.

More and More american and UK console developers are cropping up. American developers are running towards the bigger dollars to keep afloat.

Its hard to say which developers make more profit. The Japanese tend to have crazy budgets, and HUGE development teams, compared to their american and uk counterparts.

Alot of the Japanese studios are merging, some may end up merging with American companies. Most Japanese studios will have to merge or be bought out some time or they just wont make it.

why's the us the mecca of movies and music?

India produces more films in a year than the US....

and how much do those wonderful bollywood films bank? or cost to make? how many are seen around the world and are influencial on culture? one can say that hollywood makes a lot of trash.. but bollywood probably makes even more.

Just about every Bollywood movie is utter trash!!! I said just about, not every. If one movie seems successful, then there are 100 copycat movies, incorporating the same plot. But Bollywood movies have a quality which American movies don't. They are extremely addictive. They just are, it can't be explained.

maybe because they make the damn consoles in japan!!!

and gaming is way more entrenched in the culture. they can make the most obscure games, but it's for a niche market, and it'll have a cult like following. they have more developers, etc.

it's similar in the states, w/ computer game developers, aren't we the "Mecca" of computer games?

lol that statement doesn't jive with
Japan's economy depends solely on importation of ideas and goods, and the exportation of refined goods/ideas.

what is tentacle rape a refinement of?

Personally I dislike a lot of japanese games because I abhor most of their anime culture and the characters that they create in games. MGS2 was a great game, probably in great part because it wasn't throwing 4 foot tall w/ beach ball size head characters at me :)

I agree. I'm all Japenese-cultured out.
