"The Cloud" is a corporate buzzword for The Internet.

if it goes thru the internet... it goes thru "the cloud" ..

this is based on networking diagrams, which visualize the internet as a cloud.

the "internet" isn't cloud computing anymore than www.

It's painful to hear wannabes hashing this out everytime the see cloud computing mentioned.

As in Netflix or Comcast on-demand. Is that considered part of the cloud?

not necessarily.

cloud computing refers to virtualising your (distributed) hardware to a point where you have a big pool of resources and you just create virtual machines in that resource pool.

I don't know if netflix or comcast on demand runs on cloud, but I would imagine they do. All the on demand stuff used to be on dedicated servers but I guess they could have moved them to cloud. They were distributed, but not acting as a cloud. I would imagine they have moved over to the cloud way.
