random problems after format

my pc specs are
asus p5k-e wifi
evga 8800GT SCC
2gb pc6400 crucial ballistix
500gb western digital sata2
core 2 duo e6850 @3ghz stock

i formated yesterday and my IE explorer and firefox kept randomly crashing and the error was DRwatson Postmorten debugger, then slowly msn started crashing for no reason unexpected error. I got the blue screen twice .
So i formated again , and so for my ie explorer has crashed once and as soon as i installed nvidia drivers and configured it i got an unexpected error with the panel and had to close it.

Could it be my hardrive screwing up?

My first guess will be your HD going down. Do you hear any clicking from it? What if your cpu is over heating?

cpu is fine
temps are normal
my pc was working fine but i used a diff copy of windows xp and all these problems started

was the xp disc you used a retail disk or a home made slipstream? If it was a burned copy are you sure it was not corrupted?
