My system randomly shuts down the monitor into powerdown mode. I cannot turn the monitor back on, and must hardware reboot the system. This seems to only happen when I am surfing the net. I've tried turning off the power saving features but to no avail. Could it be my monitor?

Does the monitor light stay green, go solid yellow or flash yellow?

Do you have power saving enabled in the BIOS? What are your power settings in control panel?

I had a similar experience a while back. I plugged in another monitor and discovered it worked fine. There was something about the scan rate or video timings that the monitor in question didn't like. I changed the settings to 640x480 with the temp monitor and then plugged the original monitor back in. Then I set the video back to 1600x1200 with a different refresh rate than before, and voila! worked fine.

Woah! I thought that only occurred with my computer. It used to happen at least twice a day (which was really annoying) after not finding any solutions (even after reformatting/new drivers) I gave up and plugged in a V5 I had laying around. I'm using the Radeon once again (using newest beta drivers)... so far no problems! Good luck! I hope you find a solution... cause I'd like to know how/why this happened!
