Random Lockups (Old OC'ed System)

I've been running a Tbird 800 @ 1Ghz for about 2 years now on an abit KT7-Raid mobo, and just before the end of novemebr, it started crapping out on me. I was running Windows 98SE and it would just lock up/reboot randomly. At first I thought it could be a software issue so I backed up and formatted, and proceeded to attempt to install Win98, but the lockups prevented me from doing so. So I tried, XP and 2000, all with similar problems.

I proceeded to assume I may have an HSF that just wasn't performing adequately so I swapped it for a FOP38 and the problems continued.

I ended up getting a new mobo/cpu/ram/hsf etc because it was an old system, but I'm trying to put together a little server to run some games on over a network and if I can get this old mobo and cpu running that'd be fantastic.

Here's the specs on the machine I was running:
Athlon Tbird 800@1Ghz
Abit KT7-Raid mobo
Vantec Copper HSF (exact model I forget)
256MB PC133 ram
Two 40GB hd's, these worked perfectly so I just transferred to the new machine
SB Live Value
Dlink 10/100 NIC

That's about it. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very thankful.

If you think all your main hardware checks out and the temperatures are reasonable, might not be a bad idea to have a look at your PSU. Either it's starting to die on you, or it doesn't have enough ampeage running through your 12V line.

it's something to try.
perhaps the board/PSU is not supplying the voltage it needs to runs table at 1000 anymore.
backing to 800 and try same voltage, see if that works... if not, you quite obviously have other problems on your hands.
simplest thing in diagnosing an OC'd system is to put it back to default.
