I noticed that every now and then if I move my arm a certain way or put pressure on my hand a certain way (such as when moving around in bed or what not) I will sometimes get a funny bone feeling that hits hard and suddenly. It goes away when I ease off the pressure. I cannot purposely reproduce it, it just seems so random.

Could this be a symptom of carpal tunnel syndrome? What kind of exercise should I do to prevent developing that? I'm on a computer all day which does not help. At home my setup is fairly ergonomic friendly, but at work it's terrible. Like most companies, they are pinching every penny so changing it is not an option, so I need to simply exercise more to prevent it, just not sure what kind of exercise I should do. I do move around a lot and avoid staying in one position all day. I often get up for a break as well, whether it's to go to the bathroom get a snack, etc.

Where are you getting the sensation? At your elbow? In your hand? If it's in your hand/fingers, which fingers? Is it a feeling of numbness? Tingling? Ants crawling on your skin? If so, that sensation is called a paresthesia and is a result of some form of nerve impingement. It could be carpal tunnel, depending on where you feel it. It could also be some other nerve (or even spinal nerve root caused by your neck position). Both are treatable, especially in the early stages. Go see a doctor, ask for physical therapy. If you let it last, nerve changes and damage can be permanent.

I was getting the same thing myself a couple months ago. I believe it's called cubital tunnel syndrome. I believe I got it due to high frequency of pushups (thank you P90X). Went to my ortho doctor and he said rest it. Stopped doing so many pushups and it's finally gone away.

If your pain / paresthesia is along the medial aspect of the elbow / forearm and into the 4th and 5th digits then it's probably what CPA said. Ulnar nerve entrapment is fairly common at the elbow. Follow SC and CPA's advice.

It's hard to sense where exactly it is, but I'd say it's the whole arm, it's a sharp sudden pain that goes through. It's the same feeling as when you hit your funny bone.

Sounds like ulnar neuropathy. That can be due to simple impingement from muscle tissue (triceps, flexor carpi ulnaris), abnormal joint stress, poor neck position, wrist mechanics, all of the above, and more. Like I said - see a doctor and request a physical therapist.

Thanks, that's what I'll do. With my new job I have shift work which means I'll be off at times when the doctor office is open so I can call them. I've been wanting to make an appointment for a general check up anyway, so I'll mention that.

I'm also thinking I need to stretch more.
