Here's my son's rig:
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R
Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB
HITACHI Deskstar 250GB
PowerColor Radeon HD 6850 1GB
Antec BP550 Plus 550W
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400
G.SKILL 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK
Added the C300, HD 6850, and an extra 4GB of memory last week, and he ran Dragon Age II all week without any problems. Today he installed Dead Space 2, and within 2 hours of play he started getting both random freezes starting up and playing either game. He can Alt-TAB out of it and return to his desktop but the game is nonresponsive and has to be terminated in Task Manager.
Not sure if the timing of the Dead Space 2 installation and subsequent freezes is coincidental, but everything ran beautifully beforehand. Don't think it's a power or temp problem, as they should have popped up when he was gaming previously. Catalyst Control Center and HD 6850 drivers are updated to the latest versions.
Any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.
