i just set up my new computer a few days ago and was having some problems with freezes, so yesterday i reinstalled win2k. then again this morning, froze. i'll just be sitting there, watching a movie or surfing ie, and the system will just lock, and my speakers will have a long, continuous tone until i restart (not the pc speaker). what's goign on??? i installed the 4.29 via drivers already. has this happened to anyone? thanks

My guess is that your Live card is the culprit. Try putting it in a PCI slot where it doesn't share an IRQ with anything else, number 2 usually does the trick.

It isn't necessarily a problem that all of the cards seem to be sharing an IRQ according to Windows. This might be because you have an ACPI compliant system. What's important is that the cards aren't sharing IRQ channels on the hardware level. Make sure you put it in PCI 2 though, remember that the slot below the AGP slot is PCI 1.

that's normal for win2k!
do you have hardware monitoring in windows? keep a check on the cpu temperature & the rpm of the hs fan!
