random Explorer.exe crashes hardware problem?

I am running win2k and about once a day, explorer.exe will crash. This is getting very anoying. Is this a harware problem?

<< i doubt its hardware problem...i suggest that if not that much trouble, format your drive >>

i did 3 days ago. It does it every time that I format

That can happen due to RAM. MS uses some parts of RAM that nothing else uses. If that part gets messed up, your ms programs will crash. I had this problem before. IE, scandisk, and explorer would crash. Try getting a good 64 or 128 chip and putting it in your system.

Does it happen when you click on a Multimedia file?

If so, try switching back to Classic Windows Style (so no audio/video preview is loaded, which causes the error in this case)

how do I go about doing this?

Well, its been awhile since I've used 2k... I think you just fire up My Computer and click on tools to folder options. Then there is a General tab (I think it starts on that tab) and there should be an option to use Windows Classic Folders....

I think 🙂
