Random Drops when streaming in Winamp?

This happens with all streams.. for some reason, the stream always seems to drop after a random amount of time usually 5-15 minutes after the stream has been started. It's not like its buffering and then dropping, just randomly dropping. Anybody got any clue?

do you have a firewall that could be blocking the stream ?

no.. i'm in a dorm.. it shouldn't be a problem since I am able to watch it for a while, right? A blocked port would not allow me to watch it at all, right?

did you test your connection at

http://chi.speakeasy.net or anywhere else.

nope.. connection is perfect..

Upload Speed: 4367 kbps (545.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

what about winamp configuration for streaming ? Have you tried another player to see if the same thing happens

hmm, I don't have problem, I use SomaFM streams all the time with it.

try another player such as wmp or jetaudio.

I can't seem to find the winamp configs for streaming.. do you know where these are?

I just reinstalled Winamp and now I can't even view streams at all. I keep on getting Error 200/error syncing to mpeg.. what exactly does this mean? Why is it any different from what I was doing 5 minutes ago?
