Random date returns in search

I'm sure I'm missing something completely obvious, but ...

When I do a search my results seem to come up in a totally random order, date wise. I would like it to have the most recent replied topic on the top and work its way back.

Can someone help out a poor idiot????

Look for the check box in the search page that states order by date

Ah, okay. I was just using the quick search in whatever forum I needed.

The default search returns results by relevance. I have no idea how Fuetalk determines relevance, but that's why it isn't in dated order.

I thought they fixed this for hot deals and fs/ft so that they would order by date by default. It's simply stupid to have it any other way...
