Random (continual) disk access in win 2k

Hey all,

I am running Win 2k pro and I am havig a problem with an unbelievable amount of disk access whenever I am doing anything (like browsing the web right now). Win 2k is installed by itself on a 20gb maxtor 7200 rpm drive. I recently reinstalled it (with NTFS support) and I don't remeber this sort of constant disk access before when I had FAT32.

I am not even doing anything remotely disk intensive (like I said it happens when I surf the web), yet my drive is going crazy and being loud and such.

I was fooling around with the performance monitor, and my drive is averaging about 30 IO operations a second.

Is there anyway of finding out what program/process is doing this?
Or can I check if the access is from a remote user some how or a virus?

Thanks for any help.

Yeah, I forgot about the ram, I have 192 megs.
I think I have the indexing server on, but I am sure I had that on when I had FAT32 installed as well.
