Random Computer Slowdowns

Doing Random tasks my pc will slow to a crawl lately. Like just now, changing win 8 ares desktop background. It slowed down so much the mouse was moving a few pixels at a time.
I have ssd space, keep computer clean using winuntilities pro(updated). It has been doing this for ~2 weeks.

Specs:
Win 8 pro
Intel 3770K
Sabertooth Z77
8gb Corsair RAM
OCD Vertex 4 ssd
ect

Should not be doing this, I am thinking SSD failure? :dunno:

(I had this in wrong section...moved to the correct one 🙂 )

Software-wise, I would be running an antispyware and antivirus, such as Avast and Superantispyware. Of course, there are several options out there.

Hardware-wise, I would suspect that OCZ drive. They are not know for reliability.

any way to check the ssd? or is it just a waiting game?

I have a decent AV, I use Comodo.

Sorry for the redundancy in the post. Personally, I would scan with another app or two just to be sure. Also, just because you are running an antivirus doesn't mean you shouldn't do a full scan every once in a while (if you are not).

Have you checked it using the OCZ Toolbox?

When you say you have SSD space, how much do you actually have available? SSDs aren't like normal hard drives in that, the fuller they get, the more performance degrades.

Have you checked in task manager the percentage of the PC being used at one time? This will help people find the problem.

was in the process of running the AS SSD Benchmark to see the drives performance and just as it was finish I opened up up the New OCZ Toolbox(just dl'ed per this thread). As it finished the OCZ toolbox had a popup saying it could not detect drive anymore...try again. PC slowed to a crawl again....hmmm drive going out?

BTW pc utilization w/ normal usage stays around 15% and as for the space on the drive.

This is why I will never buy OCZ. At least you can get your data backed up before it totally goes out. Many who post here have not been so fortunate.

The good part is they have a nice long warranty.

It's definitely the drive. RMA it, sell whatever they give you back and pickup a new Crucial, Samsung, Kingston, or Seagate SSD drive instead.

Crucial and Samsung are the best in my experience. I wouldn't touch an OCZ product with a 10ft. pole. Nothing but problems in my many years of servicing pc's.
