Posted this in the General Hardware Forum, thought I could get some help here quicker.

My computer's been messing up of late, and its problem has got me baffled. It freezes mainly during two situations 1) 3D games, such as Q3 and UT, 2) web pages with windows media content, such as windowsmedia.com. However, it has no problems playing windows media content normally. It also freezes/slows down during other multimedia content. My system is a P3 750 on an ASUS CUBX, Maxtor 12 GB HDD, 96 MB Micron RAM, Diamond V770 TNT2, Soundblaster Live! Value, Creative 8x DVD drive w/ Encore3 decoder, generic CD burner. I tested the video drivers, switched between Nvidia reference and unofficial and Diamond dirvers, and even switched the video card for another from my other comp that I know works with no results. Anyone have any suggestions or testing programs which could help me identify the problem, I tried Sandra 2001 and it locked up when querying my video card. Thanks!

If you even have a guess I could try, help me out!

This may not have anything to do with your problem. But anyway, Make sure all your drivers are updated and you have the most recent Directx build. This usually fixs gaming problems.

Try checking your startup programs to see if they are robbing too much memory from your other apps. I checked mine and it said I was dedicating 60MB of ram to behind the scene apps. Like Disk utilities, RealPlayer, RealJukebox, or other nonsence apps like that. Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Sys Tools, System information, tools, system configuration utilities, startup and disable things you don't need. I freed up about 20 MB of junk. If you download a trial of PKZIP it has a tracking program in it too! Disable that one for sure. It should be listed as TimeSink. It sends info about where you have been on the net to big brother or who ever the hell else.

Get the latest BIOS for your motherboard. It can fix some stabilitiy issues.
