Hi guys,

I've been having some trouble with my monitor turning blank while playing Fallout 4. The LEDs on my case, keyboard and mouse would still be on though I noticed that pressing caps, scroll lock or numlock no longer engaged the indicator lights on my keyboard.

It has happened twice now recently and in the first instance, forcing a restart fixed the issue and everything seemed fine with the exception of a windows recovery notice (which I unfortunately did not write down) upon logging back in. However after the second occurrence, resetting did not address the problem and my monitor remained blank.

Could this be a motherboard issue, or a problem with my video card? I'm afraid to run fallout again for testing because I'm afraid my computer is already unstable. Thanks!

Playing a game stresses the components and your power supply. It is possible that your ps is sagging under load reducing voltages to components but unless you put a voltage meter on the rails and measure you will never know for sure.

Hi Puffnstuff,

Thanks for the reply. Regrettably, I do not have access to a multimeter. I have been using an old (5+ years) 650W PSU to run a 2500k, 2 sticks of memory, 1 HD and a 780GTX for a year or so. Do you think it could be failing now?

What brand / model PSU? If it's an Apevia or RaidMax or DiabloTek, it most likely should be replaced.
