Random applications crashing

Been getting random applications crashing with windows error reports in this particular case it?s my PowerDVD in which if freezes stating ?PowerDVD has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience? Send error report / don't send report?. This happened with Word, Explore, ATI HDTV just about any application. Aside from this computer is running fine. All I have to do is start the program up again and I am good to go. Just ran Memtest86 all night on my 1GB duel channel sticks in which I had 20 passes no errors over a 8 hour period. Might be important to note that I have done no OCing and my CPU temp runs under 109 F. ideas on what could be causing these. Update recently reinstalled windows due to a new hard drive system was doing ok untill my battlefield 2 download did the good old windows error report and had to shut it down. i just do not understand i did a fresh install of windows updated the drivers on my video card motherboard and installed the amd duel core drivers then downloaded all the windows updates threw the autoupdate. would these random errors be due to a bad install of windows via my lite on dvd rom or a problem with my evga video card, motherboard or processor. at this point its all i can think i could be i gess mabie the PSU but i don't know.was wanting to sell the computer befor school lets out but can't sell one that is haveing issues.need help me figuring this out . Hopefull this happend to someone else =)(so we can pin point this.)

That would be my first guess then. Try to reduce the power requirements as much as possible then see if you can re-create the error. You will need a different vid from a friend, maybe a single core processor, remove the TV tuner, network card, unplug the optical drives and all but one hard drive.

It might be easier just to borrow a better PSU than do that.. I dunno... it depends what parts you have available.

Random crashes in various apps sometimes means a DLL conflict/corruption. I would suspect the video drivers first...try doing a complete uninstall/re-install, this might save you time in needing to pull your rig open. I would suspect the mobo chipset drivers second, so grab the latest BIOS flash and latest chipset drivers.

The PSU should be more than enough, could be going bad but i'd look more at slugbait's suggestions myself.

I am going home in a week will be puting in a sata hd so i will be geting a fresh install on everything that should hit the video drivers will also take out my tuner see if thats doing bad things then try the mobo chipset drivers (flashing BIOS is what scards me, never done it but i gess i will know how after this) ty all

This was suggested to me from EVGA was wondering what your thoughts where.

Make sure you are using the latest 6.70 chipset drivers from the NVIDIA website and have the AMD X2 driver from NVIDIA. There is also a Microsoft dual core hotfix available that fixes some stability issues.

Yeah, sometimes that fixes things, sometimes it makes it worse

Worth a try first, if it makes the problems go away then just clone the OS.

update on what is going on doesn't seem to be a bad install of windows or hd still have no idea though.. any help MUCH OP
