If you'll recall, there was some worry (or hope within the Ron Paul ranks) that after losing the Republican primary, he might consider a run as a third party candidate. Rand certainly isn't his father, but I'd say there's a possibility

All interviews I've heard with him and before he threw his hat in the ring were he was running in the republican primary.

I heard him talk not too long again. Seems to be a good bit like his dad minus a lot of the portions that would push him in most minds to the eccentric side.

I don't really know as I don't know those states. We have primaries and filing regulations to put your hat into the ring, AFAIK you can file to run in the election without any primary election.

Primary doesn't = election.
