I don't think you know your ass from a hole in the ground, let alone what peer review means.

And you won't argue anything: you will only spout idiotic tripe. Each of us only does what we can, I suppose.

maybe we should have 5 highway systems and have them compete for the drivers? free markets and all...

As I said before, it's a pity you live so far away. Otherwise, I could explain this to you in a way you might be able to understand.

I'm an educator. I have a gift for teaching people things in a way that they will understand them. Most people are capable of learning by reading, hearing, doing, or seeing visual aids. Others got run over by the short bus. I'm guessing, based on your complete lack of comprehension of any discussions in this forum, that you're in this last group. Otherwise, you would understand the difference between a threat and a regret.

It works well with his plan to have multiple-competing water supply and wastewater treatment systems. All those pipes have to go somewhere.

Only in the US is it culturally acceptable for the ignorant to mock the learned. Neither of you knuckle draggers has anything to say about the technical merits of my proposal, nor did you even address its feasibility when presented. Just a couple of idiots jerking each other off from the safety of an anonymous basement. I think I hear your mothers calling - must be lunch time.

Ahh, now I remember this screen name. Weren't you that cocky guy who acted like he was a MD/PhD student, except the fact that you never went to any medical school? I don't know how you can act around like you represent the "learned" when you misrepresent yourself.

I am currently employed at the Washington University School of Medicine (and am an adjunct professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences). Not that it matters. The argument these idiots are referencing was technical in nature. They couldn't offer any argument regarding the technical aspects of my statements, so they resorted to third-grade insults.

I agree with this gentleman here. BTW, I think Rand is a bright person considering he's a eye surgeon. But his beliefs are on the ultra right side, probably even regular republicans might find some of his ideals out of touch with current reality. With that said he does represent the majority of views in his state so he might get elected. However most libertarians wants to abolish 90% of government agencies. I am not sure if that will fly with most demographic in the country.

I always scratch my head when people say this about libertarians, Rand Paul, or anyone else. What's so great about the ideals that have brought about the "current reality"? Massive deficits, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, more people in prison than any other industrialized nation, a tax code that not one person on Earth has read cover to cover, an illiterate population that has to have everything boiled down to soundbytes, etc. Current reality sucks in a lot of ways. Maybe it's time for some "out of touch" ideals.

People judge success differently. Some have argued that the current system is very successful. I can only assume that their objective is to make the government the foundation of society with every member of that society dependent on government.

I'll tell you from personal experience actually working in that industry, safety is pretty much the #1 priority. You'd be surprised at how much more it costs them to be unsafe than it does to be safe. Work can literally go to a standstill over safety. I know one time we had to push back a job 3 days because the scaffold inspector was so busy he couldn't come and just do a one over(like less than 5 minutes of work) to sign off on it so we could go up it(5 ft off the ground) to work. I've seen people chased out of places for not wearing ear plugs etc. They are pretty good about safety at these places. This might be one of those cases where they turned a blind eye, but more often than not things like this are just like Paul said, accidents.

Trying to do something you don't know how to do and failing isn't an accident.

Skipping steps to save costs isn't an accident.
