If it wasn't for the bat shit crazy economic ideas I'd be leaning towards Ron Paul. But, he has ZERO chance to win the nomination and therefore zero chance to be the next president.

Don't often say this, but thanks to Rand Paul. The Patriot Act has been an aboslute disgrace since the day it was signed.

Lmao. I was gonna say something but figured I'd be nice.

As for his policies- i don't agree with all of them. Nor do i agree 100% with anyone else's policies.

I can say i believe in his sincerity. I believe he loves our country and loves freedom.

If he's anything like his father i doubt he'd be shoving any policies down our throats either. I loved that his father was personally against abortion but believed it wasn't up to his RIGHT to make laws against it.

I know Rand has stumbled on this issue with the press but i think he's having trouble with all the party pressure (unlike Ron)

There is still a fight even to get in the debates atm.

They aren't going to have 20 people in them.

As a generally conservative voter I was also glad to see Senator Byrd standing alone against the Patriot Act back when it was first voted on. I knew no good would come of that act.

I'm so used to XDA forums. I really wish there was a like or thanks button here.

And your precious dems dis nothing to roll it back.

And if the Repubs get back control of the White House, they're not going to roll it back either, yes? ;)

It's that old story of gov't giving itself (temporary) powers in times when there is a perceived threat to national security *real or contrived* and then refusing to relinquish those powers when the emergency is over with.

The only difference between those presidents who get to wield those powers is HOW they exploit those powers, especially when political advantage is the reason for capitalizing on such authority that they practically gave themselves.

His point is that it really doesn't matter, Democrat or Republican.

At the end of the day, we are being screwed by an out of control Government.

It's going to take a truth-sayer like Rand Paul to normalize the relationship.

That's the real reason Americans should take him more seriously as a candidate. He's not really a democrat or a republican. You could call him "mostly libertarian" but more practical.

If we're really lucky he might have a chance.

Who do you think will win the primaries? I really doubt Jeb will either. Heck, i doubt any of them will but somebody has to!

The party wants the least crazy candidate for the general election and most think that's Jeb. Additionally, they power brokers liked the brain-dead-and-easily-lead-by-the-nose older brother so Jeb it is.

Rand poses a greater threat to the Republicans than the Democrats as his filibuster proves.

So, in the end we will get to chose between H or J -- oh joy...
