So I was rumaging through the fridge at work today looking for something to put on my chicken strips, and the only condiment available was some very, very old mustard. This got me thinking about all of the various food items that a person should have on hand if they want to be prepared for any type of food situation.

Tomorrow I am going to the grocery store to pick up some things for work, and would like to have a fairly comprehensive list of condiments, sauces, and the like to purchase. So, what do you guys like? What type of condiment or sauce do you order when you go out to eat? What do you keep stashed at the house?

The list already includes ranch dressing, mayo, soy sauce, and ketchup. Give me some ideas here, because I never want to be unprepared again...at least not when it comes to condiments/sauces...

Thanks

BBQ, Mustard (Hot, Sweet & Hot, Dijon, Honey, Yellow), Ketchup, Catsup, Soy Sauce, Horseradish, Mayo, Miracle Whip, Pickles (Bread & Butter, Dill, Gherkins), Capers.

I'll think of more later.

In addition to what's already been mentioned, hot sauce like Tabasco or Franks, salsa, steak sauce, tartar sauce.

My condiment staples, excluding mayo & ketchup:

Blue Cheese Dressing (the good stuff, not Hidden Valley crap)
Sriracha Hot Sauce
Pickapeppa Sauce
Tabasco BBQ Sauce (you have to cook it, it's awesome)
Creole (or other whole-seed) mustard
Cornichons
Creme Fraiche
Horseradish (not Horseradish sauce)
Kalamata Olives
Capers
Pearl Onions (for martinis)
Rice Vinegar
Coconut Milk
Soy Sauce
Thai Peanut Sauce
Pepper Jelly

I also have a large container of tzatziki sauce I made last week frozen for future use.

Martinis have olives. If it's got a pearl onion in it it's a Gibson. As this was a request for condiments to have in work, I do like the concept of Martinis in the office. Can I get a job wherever you work, it sounds like a lot more fun than my place.

Perhaps the Gibson you're sipping had something to do with it. :wine:
