We've received some details on 3dfx's upcoming product - Rampage. The chip is scheduled for H2'2000 and will have the following key features:
Rampage
AGP4x
32-512 MB memory support (200MHz)
32 bit rendering
4 pixels/clock
Rampage SLI
AGP 4x
32-512 MB memory support (200MHz)
32-bit rendering
2/4/8 way SLI
FSAA
4 pixels/clock

-------------------

IXBT-Labs broke that and I dont know if it is true or what... just passing it on. Over at Aceshardware.com they have speculated that Rampage might not have T&L and it might be an advanced VSA-100 chip w/ more pipes... That seems wierd to me seeing as how 3dfx stated this would be a totally new architecture and include T&L...

o well... speculate all you want!

Hmmn, looks interesting. No say on how many textures per pixel pipeline per clock though. It'll need to be clocked pretty high(300MHz or above) to stay competitive, and it'll need to somehow overcome the memory bandwidth bottleneck too, even 200MHz DDR isn't gonna cut it when your fillrates are that high, especially with FSAA.

Sheet! Though all that memory isn't really needed (yet). Anand said already that 64 Meg cards now aren't useful becuase of S3TC, but may be in the future.
