Ramen Noodles

This stuff is not bad, and if more people ate it, the expense of food would go way down. 🙂
When I first got married, over 23 years ago, we were dirt broke and ate it regularly.
 
Drained or not drianed? I drain and THEN add the flavor packet. I understand a lot of people keep a little water in them for a somewhat soupy consistancy.

As for Ramen being "bad" for you.... I'm sure you mean "not good". I mean, an entire package of bacon is "not good" for you either, but it's not going to flat out kill you.

Not like apple seeds or those red M&Ms!!!
 
I have a shelf full of ramen that's over a year old.. I REALLY want to eat it but I need to lose weight and I can't justify the 16 grams of fat and sodium and such 🙁

Does anyone remember the cambell's baked ramen that came out years ago? It was low fat but tasted .. yuck

for old school... any sapparo ichiban ramen is good.

What's the best cup of noodles out there? I have Maruchan Cup of Noodles and I remember the packets were a lot better than this...
 
I like just about every flavor made. I add frozen vegetables to mine. Makes a great vegetable soup.

Heh, when I went to elementry school we all used to have our pack of noodles at recess. Just crunch them up, then apply the seasoning....REALLY good actually. Of course, we used to buy the ones that were actually from Chinatown because they were the spiciest (So much better than other brands)....

Now I have this weird urge to try them again too...Uncooked of course...

All you ramen lovers out there have to go to an asian food market and buy the real stuff. It blows the socks off those Nissan/Maruchan brand crap that you find in your local grocery store. You'd be surprised how many different good flavors there are. Mmmm, stewed pork chop flavor is one of my favorites. The spicy kimchee ones are awesome too.

Best ramen I've ever had was in Akihbara, the place is called Jungara. Small place, reall quick food, but very small (like most of Tokyo). Second best was in Japan as well, forgot the name of place, but it was in Kurume.

I do the same thing. I always drain the water then stir in the seasonings.

RAMEN is badass! ..

Things to try:

-Cut up an onion and toss it in after the noodles and boil for a minute or so... Might sound gross, but it's soooo good.

-Add a can of smoked mussels (the cheap $.99 kind)..

-Add some chopped cooked boneless chicken breast that you cooked on the ol' Foreman grill

-Throw in some frozen veggies before the noodles



Things to do for best Ramen:

Cook on the stove - NOT the microwave!
Drain most of the water before adding the flavoring.
Cook just enough for the noodles to soften, take off heat, add flavoring and let set for a few minutes
Crunch up the package



I'm very passionate about my Ramen. It's sooooooooooooooo good.
 
Ahh the mainstay of any University student. We used to eat them a little soupy with about 20 shakes of tabasco in it. "Dorm Style". The cigarette after that was the best one known to man.

Course now, Im 28. No more smoking or ramen......sigh.

Exactly how i eat them. Usually get the 5/$1 deal but sometimes slurge for the good Ichiban noodles(with %100 daily allowance sodium) that are 2/$1

These noodles have helped me to buy more computer stuff... 😀
 
I am in the military and devour the Ramen Noodles any chance we get to actually cook our food.
We have the MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat).They back your system up and require a large amount of hot sauce
to digest.

The ramen noodles allow us two meals in one.First no matter what kind, add Texas Pete, some black pepper
bring to a boil.After eating the noodles, then we have a hot drink to warm the body.
