ramdrive for internet cache?

I've done it before using win98.
can't remember all the steps, but it worked well and *seemed* to speed things up on a slow machine with a 56k dial-up. Plus, all cookies became "temporary" -- which was a nice side benefit (but may be annoying if you have usefull cookies)

but actually i don't know how internet cache does... i know if i reboot, all the cache in my harddrive will be useless. so ramdrive for internet cache is quite useful.. however, i am thinking of using 20mb or 30mb of ram for ramdrive..

i havne't thought about cookies..
i only have 512mb of physical memory.

i am using xp pro., which ramdrive software should i try ? suggestions?
 
err I don't see what's the point of this when internet files are already sooo small.
Your best bet is to get a high RPM SCSI drive with low seek times.
 
Use Firefox. It already caches information in your RAM, the more RAM you have the more it will utilize.

To see usage check out:
about:cache

Type that into your url bar and it will show those statistics.

This is one of the reasons why you'll see people saying firefox is a "ram hog" or has a memory leak. But it's neither its that ram based cache. If you want to disable either the harddrive cache or the memory cache you can do it in the configuration page aviable thru typing "about:config" in your URL bar.
