If I use a free utility like dataram ramdisk or AMD ramdisk (think they are the same software) and setup say a 1GB disk, does the 1GB get cached by windows into its disk cache and thereore take up 2GB of RAM?

I'm guessing the 1GB in the disk cache would be given up if applications need it but it's still 1GB that could be used to cache other things.

I used to have a RAM disk for the temp files and I don't recall a disk cache for it. I used Softperfect's RAM Disk. But one day it caused my system restore to stop working so I don't use it anymore.

Here is my 1GB Ram Disk before it's mounted, after it's mounted and after it's mounted I have Sandboxie's container folder set up in a Ram Disk running Firefox. I'm also using SoftPerfect Ram Disk. I do have system restore disabled because it sucks and I have images.
