Okay, so i've got 512mb of ram. I had this idea, say to maybe creat like a 320mb ram disc or so...And then do a minimal install of Windows 98 onto my drive, but to somehow set it up so that before windows started, it would copy the contents of the win98 directory to the ramdisc, and then boot from there...

First of all, I think the limit on the ramdisk size is 32mb...

And what's the point of continually copying the contents of the Windows folder to the ramdisk on startup, assuming it's possible?

hmm - now that i put some thought to it (a whole 2 seconds) it came to my mind that contents cannot be changed in RAM, that they must be swapped to the disk and then reswapped back - permanent installed programs that are unchanged would be ok, but any data files that you modify, or registry entires that get changed when the comp is running...

I was poking around the web (quick altavista look) and found SuperSpeed 2000 Pro - it seems to create a RAM disk - works only for win2000 and NT though. Im checking it out now.
