Probably by April is when I make the plunge towards a Northwood chip.. 2A or maybe 1.6A

Anyway, should i sell my current PC2100 DDR 512 and buy Rdram .. they are both about the same price...

Also, i have a 300 watt Power Supply, will this be enough for the P4 .. ?

Depends if it has the connector for the P4.

If you go for the 2A then I'd get the RDRAM, if you're going for the 1.6A, then I'll assume you'd overclock it and most people are overclocking on 845D boards, so that means DDR Ram.

Hope that helped.

It would be fine to keep the DDR and go for a Sis or 845 based board, but RD is also very good! As for "most" people O/C'ing with DDR boards.............I remind you that the best Northwood O/C's to date have been done on TH7II's which are i850 boards with RD!;) I personally own two i850's and a Sis board right now, I've also tried the 845's and to be honest, the RD based i850's, at least the TH7's O/C just as well and in some cases better than the DDR boards and with less voltage!;)

It's your decision. When did you buy the DDR? When it was $40 for 256Megs, or $70 for 256? If you got it for $40, stick with DDR, and in any case, it's up to u. I feel Abit TH7II (RDRAM) is the most future prrof and best ocing P4 board but it's really up to you if u want to trade the DDR for RDRAM.

Bought the DDR ram last year for $40 .. 256 DDR

And i bought another stick for 256 for $60 like a month ago.

Only the mobo is higher if I go Rdram

I have been considering this very thing and I don't know which to choose. I got my 2x256mb pc2100 from crucial for around $70 so I could make a fair amount of money selling them for current market value. I could probably get enough to replace it with rdram but then I will want to go with an Abit TH7II which costs about $150 where many DDR boards can be had for around $100 or less. Can anybody point out some reviews that compared DDR performance to rdram performance. I know tomshardware.com did a review recently for upcoming p4's with 533mhz busses but he never did directly compare them to ddr platforms. If I did go the northwood route, I would probably get a 1.8A and oc to 133x18 = 2400mhz so what I am really looking for would be a comparison at that speed between ddr and rdram. The total difference in price is only $50-$100 but if I am going to spend the extra money for the rdram platform, I want to be sure that it is worth it.
