you need pairs of the same speed. Both rimms in a pair must be the same, but you can have two pairs of different speeds

example:

bank 1: 128 pc800 + 128 pc800
bank2: 128 pc1066 + 128 pc1066
is fine, but your pc1066 will be downgraded to pc800 speeds.


bank1: 128 pc1066 + 128 pc800
bank2: 128 pc1066 + 128 pc800
will probably not work well, if at all

also keep track of which slots they need to go in . not all MB's are the same

1-1 2-2 or 1-2-1-2

Wouldn't he just have to run the memory at pc-800 in either case. Don't know of any boards that'll let you run each bank at a different speed.
