I think Rambus should sue it self because they where the major reason RDRAM was more expensive then other types of ram.

Did they honestly expect consumers to come busting down their doors demanding RAM that cost 2 or even 3 times as much as conventional RAM? Morons, the vast majority of PCs sold are to people from the "More megahertz is faster" camp...they don't know the difference, so they'll be happier with the cheap ram. (Not to mention the dismal performance gains for the massive increase in cost)

I just don't understand why this entity still exists...all they have are underhanded lawsuits. They're like a desperate starving dog now...no one wants to play with them because they'll probably get bit.

Anyone read the article? Basically, it says all the other manufacturers 'colluded' by not charging ridiculous prices for their RAM and telling their distribution partners etc. that Rambus is teh suck (which it is.) Basically, they are suing for everyone else having fair prices and telling the truth...

I don't doubt Rambus has some IP, and some of it is probably great given that they have one of the best EE's, Mark Horowitz as one of the founders.
As far as which of it applies to RDRAM or SDRAM, I wouldn't know. It's fairly easy to patent anything in the world. I think whatever the invention was, Rambus seems like a giant lawfirm at this point, instead of coming out with new technologies to license they keep beating the dead horse about SDRAM.
