I must have missed something last night when I watched it...

It reminded me of Final Destination where they go out of their way to kill people in the most violent way possible...at the expense of something interesting like a plot...

The Part I have the biggest gripe about was the Special Effects...

To say they were Horrible is an understatement...

Seriously the blood and explosions looked like they were done in Movie Maker or something...they looked so pathetic...

I was pretty excited to finally have a night to myself to watch the new Rambo...and after I watched it I was pissed :D

I could have watched the trailer again and saved myself an hour because those were the only good scenes

Anyone else think the latest edition of RAMBO sucked?

I thought it was great. I knew not to expect a social/pyschological thriller like "First Blood".

I expected pure chaos and gratuitous violence. And this movie delivered.

I was along those same lines...I knew from reading around there was senseless killing....ect

However the Special effects (CGI) looked so bad...the worst I have ever seen in a movie

I liken the special effects to something from the 80's they were so cheesy...I couldn't even appreciate the killin' going on as a result, which was the whole reason of watching it when the wifey was away!!!

Maybe I expected too much...

The worst you have ever seen in a movie? You must not watch any movies at all.

I thought it was great.

First off 90% of CGI SUCKS. Sorry but it does. I can't stand some "Attempt" to make things look real, when in fact you are fooling nobody most of the time and even the best attempt fall shorts (sorry Lucas).

If you expected a "storyline" in Rambo, you are insane to start with. I even laughed when I saw in the credits "Written By Sylvester Stallone" Written? Really? The script couldn't have been more than 20 pages long.

After all that, yes I loved the movie.

How large is your TV and were you watching the standard DVD or the Blue Ray version of the movie? I watched the standard DVD on 30" tube HDTV and I only noticed bad special effects a handful of times.

As far as action movies go, I think Rambo IV was one of the best I've seen in years.

WTF. This movie was amazing... easily the best movie of the year in terms of pure action. Obviously the story sucked, but it's rambo.. you don't watch it for the plot. I almost nut myself during the last half hour of pure mayhem.

Most entertaining movie I've seen in a long time. Not much dialogue, not a deep plot, but just good old entertainment.

I usually don't like pure action movie, but the movie exceeded my low expectation. To try to introduce a plot in the movie will only kill it and the explosions seemed fine when I watched it, were you looking for a huge fireball when it's only a minor car crash?

You ever see a Rambo movie? Plot? Hell, Dialogue doesn't matter. Just give Rambo a Place, Bad Guys, and some Guns. He'll do the rest.

Upon reading the replies it does appear that you are the one who SUCKS BALLS in fact and not Rambo IV. I want to see it now with these reviews.

I had low expectations for this movie so it was easy to like just for the fact that it was better than both Rambo 2 and 3. I thought I would probably hate it but it turned out to be a simple popcorn action flick that delivered the goods - straight up blood and guts and no phony attempt at a complicated plot or characters.

It's too late now, but it would have been nice if they had at least made an attempt at a genuine First Blood part 2, something with a story and not just the Rambo action sequences the series turned into.

I know the plot is kind of thin but you do know that kind of sh1t really is happening over there do you? The blood and gore is a little over the top but didn't bother me much. I mean it is war after all. Also I didn't see much flaws in the effects and I watched it in HD on a 50" screen. I would say most of it seems realistic on what a 50 cal machine gun would do to a human body.

I wouldn't agree that the plot sucked...it certainly was far from the shining point of the movie, but it wasn't like it was corny or unbelievable so that was actually a plus for a movie that is all about the action...and it certainly delivered 100% for that.

straight up blood and guts and no phony attempt at a complicated plot or characters.

That's precisely how I feel, the plot was 'good' enough that it didn't detract from the action and entertainment of the movie. Some movies have really good action but the absolutely ridiculous plot ruins even that.

He doesn't even need guns. Just start him off with a knife.
