Was incredible. I think everyone in the theater said it was one of the best movies they've seen in a long time. Hell, even the females liked it. Rambo is definitely still a badass.

Didn't help going to the midnight showing that I had to work early this morning :p

I'm absolutely stoked to see this movie....but, and I'm ashamed to admit, I've never watched the first 3. I have to go rent and watch those first.

We had a marathon before the midnight showing and watched all 3 in a row before we hit up the theater. I had already seen em all a million times, but it was a blast.

Yeah, *especially* no. 3.... it takes place in Afghanistan, with Rambo helping the locals fight the godless Commies... We all know how well it all turned out afterwards, for both the Afghans and the rest of the world!

Really? It's been getting terrible reviews. I'll still watch it though for some Friday night entertainment. :)

So... I've never seen any of the Rambos. Do you all recommend me to see them before seeing this?

Basically all I know so far is... Rambo's badass.

Giving a movie a bad review would make it all the more appealing to the ATOT crowd. :p

First Blood was the only good Rambo movie, which was also based upon the book. 2 and 3 sucked and I'm guessing this one is more of the same. I'll pass.

This is one of those movies where you can just ignore rotten tomatoes and other reviews joints. You either want to watch a movie with Rambo constantly killing or not. Everyone knows what to expect....CARNAGE! I'll try to watch it this weekend.

I may actually go see this. Sylvester Stallone called in to the Howard Stern show yesterday and they talked for about 40 minutes. Howard saw the movie and really liked it. Great interview too.

There's a difference between a "good" movie and and "entertaining" movie. They are both not mutually inclusive OR exclusive either mind you.
With that being said, First Blood (note there is no "Rambo" in the title") is a "GOOD" movie. Storyline is good, original plot and idea. Good everything really. Acting... well... Now for the Rambo series. These are (or maybe rather can be. if you like the genre) "ENTERTAINING" movies. Are they "GOOD"? No. Are they a complete and utter popcorn flick with mass carnage, action and shit blowing up? Yes. Are they GOOD at that. Yes. Are they going to win any Oscars for what they try and succeed in being? No. They are POPCORN flicks and rarely is a popcorn flick "good".

All that being said, Rambo IV will kick ass and I am sure are COMPLETELY entertaining films. They will never get GOOD reviews as reviews are driven off a movie being "GOOD".

Rambo?? Oh, please! A 62 year old Golden Oldie with a face lift, taking on southeast Asia. Let it go, Stallone. Pick up your gold watch and retire already.
The reviews have been universally thumbs down. . .except here on ATOT.

Exactly. On a local radio station this morning the movie review guy reviewed it. He said rated against other movies, it's a 2, but taken as an entertaining, carnage filled Rambo movie, it's a 10. He said it was a must see for Rambo fans, and people who just like over the top action flicks.

If I marry my girlfriend and take her last name. I will be "John Rambo"

BTW she hates those movies. She's never seen them, nor wants to.

I'm learning more and more that a bad rating on rottentomatoes doesn't mean shit. A GOOD rating is a sure thing, but a bad rating means nothing about entertainment factor, imo.

In any case, if there's one reviewer who I tend to agree with the most, it's Ebert...so I'll just go to his webpage.

First Blood rocked. C'mon, he gave David Caruso a bloody nose. "Nothing is over!!!"

Thanks for the review. Even though he seems a bit lubberly at times, I've always been a fan of Stallone.

I thought it was funny at the end to see "Dedicated to the brave people of Afghanistan." Things change so quickly.

Just rent the first one. The other two are pretty weak... no very weak. Well the first one is kind of weak... but still a good action flick. "Rambo will eat stuff that will make a billy goat puke."
