RAM: Which mo betta: quantity or speed

Piecing together a new box. XP3200+ on a FIC AU13.

I've got one 512m PC2700 ddr and one 512m PC3200 ddr.

Will I be better off w/ the single pc3200 or should I stick both in and let the pc3200 underclock?

I don't do too much gaming. Mostly app development, cad, imaging, video, etc.

I know, I know... sell the pc2700 and get another pc3200, right? 😉

No, that would be "Pile on the RAM, as your common apps eat it like popcorn." Besides, your XP2500 is on a 333FSB anyhow, so the PC3200 wouldn't do you any good unless you overclock.

hrm, im thinking that both sticks will work better. the speed difference isn't much, and you're doubling the size. my 2 cents 🙂

Hmm.. I thought the XP3200+ had a 400mhz fsb...

The RAM has no speed. It has a rated Speed. The Ram will only go as fast as the CPU link or bus will tell it too.
