I want to pop in another Gig of Ram in my machine, but the DFI manual says that if I fill all three slots (1g, 512, 512), the ram will run at slower speeds with no way around it.

Would it be better to just use 1.5gb of ram at faster speeds, or 2gb of ram at slower speeds? Thanks.

Ya it depends. If you really need the 2gb, then yes get it at slower speeds. However, if you want it just for the bf2 upgrade, then 1.5 should do just fine.

No you can't as the Newcasle memory controller can not handle it.

It's my recording studio...running drum programs and apps which uses a lot of RAM.
I'm running Cakewalk Sonar Producer Edition with an Echo Layla3G...a nice little 10in/10out soundcard. I'll be running multiple tracks, applying effects to each of them.

You can only use 2 sticks of ram stabily. I had 3 sticks and even underclocked my system was horribly unstable. I hate all of the memory 'features' of the A64. :(

Sell the 2x 512 and buy another gig stick, you should be set then.

Yes it can, you'll probably drop down from 1T to 2T but it's doable.
