i want to put 1gb more, shoud i go ahead and buy 512 *2 or just buy 2*1

Apparently AMD processors (and some Intel chipsets, namely 600i series) might have problems dealing with 4 RAM modules.

I would go with 2 x 1GB modules, since the price difference (if any) is negligible.
