RAM upgrade, quick question

If you have the open slots you could just add 3x2GB more. Wouldn't even have to be the same OCZ memory, just whatever you can get that matches the speed (and preferably the voltage rating) of your current memory.

But note that sometimes boards have 'issues' running fully populated, often I have seen systems that work better with higher density/fewer sticks (3x4GB better for stability than 6x2GB). Especially if you're overclocking...

Thanks, I have 3 empty banks on my board so I could just get 6 more GB. I've ran into some issues OCing my 920 though so i'm not sure if having 6 2gb sticks would be best.

If you're already having issues with overclocking, adding three more sticks will definitely not help. May not hurt but certainly will not help.

Between normal issues mixing RAM (sometimes you have to drop speed and/or timings, even if they'll work fine separately at those settings), the OCing, and that that's good RAM and dirt cheap, I would replace it with the 12GB. Unless you edit photos and videos all the time, or keep up nice virtual machines, 12GB will likely last you the life of the system.

Thanks guys. Just did a update to my BIOS and got my 920 up to 3.69 on air w/out turbo. Can't get it over that, not sure if its the RAM or something else. I'll probably grab the 12GB, going to wait to see if NewEgg has any good black friday deals.
