Ram upgrade question ?

I have a amd venice 3000+, epox nf4 ultra mobo and 1G of rams in dual channel ( 2 512 sticks). I like to upgrade to 2 G of rams. But from what i read, running 4 rams sticks will loose some performance. So what is the best way to upgrade to 2 G, buy another 1 G kits or a single 1G of ram ?

The biggest bang for buck is to go to 4x512. However the best performance is from 2x1GB. I wouldn't buy a single stick myself as that gets you caught both ways, no dual channel and still 2T timings (correct me if i'm wrong). Selling you current RAM isn't a real possibility i assume so i'd just go with the additional 2x512. You won't notice the slightly slower speed.

, although a big change is already in motion from DDR to DDR2. Depending how long you want to keep your present system, you might just want to go to 2GB on your next major upgrade. Of course, that is MHO.
