Hello,

I've been doing research around the forum for quite a while now, but it's time to make a thread, so here is my first post :)

Current setup:
mb: Gigabyte EX58-Extreme
cpu: i7 920
ram: Corsair Dominator DHX Pro 6GB (triple channel)
gpu: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1
ssd: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB
psu: Corsair TX 850 W
case: Akasa Eclipse 62

Since 6GB recently don't suffice, i decided to upgrade. Could not find the exact kit, but found one "close".
existing memory: Dominator DHX Pro
new memory: XMS3
Both kits are DDR3 1600MHz, 1.65v, difference is timings CL8 vs CL9.

I had the existing memory installed in slots 1-3-5, and placed the new sticks in 2-4-6. The other way around won't work because of the height of the DHX and the cpu cooler being in the way of slot 2.

Problem: Win10 Pro 64bit sees 12GB installed, but says 6GB usable. CPU-Z also identifies the 12GB.
Memory check on boot and BIOS only finds 6GB.

Before installing the new sticks, i cleared the CMOS and didn't change anything in BIOS, except IDE/AHCI for the ssd.
I have the latest stable BIOS version for the board, F12. I installed F13s (beta) but it won't boot, error code is the memory check.

I don't know where to start troubleshooting this. I know it's BIOS related, but i don't know how to do it since it doesn't show all the memory.

Hugely appreciate any tips you guys can share.

Thanks

Set command rate to 2T. I also had to lower frequency to get my i5-750 stable with all memory slots occupied.

Interesting, i'll try lowering to 1333 and see if it works. Then i can maybe play with the timings?

So i've done the following:

set the speed to 1066 (8x133), timings 9-9-9-24-34-2T and i get the same results. They get 1.5V auto. Does QPI voltage have an effect? Should i also increase that?

Also, there are 2 settings in BIOS, memory related, that i don't know if i should leave them to auto or change. One is "Channel Interleaving", auto value is 6, and the other is "Rank Interleaving", auto value is 4.

FIXED : i placed the new sticks in the primary slots, 1-3-5 and the old ones (tighter timings) in the secondary slots 2-4-6 (with a little work on the heatsink and cpu fan), but now they work. All 12GB. I can now go and try 1333 and maybe 1600.
