hello,

my current netbook has 2 gigs of ddr3 1333 ram, given the nature of the fusion series processors, would i see any advantage going with 4 gigs of ddr 1600? or should i simply save the extra few dollars and stick with 4 gigs of DDR 1333? I appreciate your feedback!

i know every little bit of extra performance helps on this little machines!

c-60 supports ddr3-1333 actually. the c-50 could only do 1066.

but yeah they dont support 1600

alyarb is right, you guys got it wrong, the C-60 can only run at 1066 Mhz speeds, just like the C-50 and e-350. Only the e-450 got the speed bump to use 1333Mhz ddr3 ram(and the HDMI 1.4a capability). I know as I am typing on a C-60 acer with DDR3 1333Mhz installed but only able to run at 1064-1080 Mhz speeds(according to cpu-z).

OP just cause your computer has a higher speed memory installed doesn't mean it is running at those settings, to see what its really running at just run CPU-z, go to the memory tab and than look at DRAM frequency, times that number by 2 and that's the rate you are running at.

Yeah, lots of news article misreported the C-60's capabilities confusing it with the e-450 new features, I understand the confusion, in reality, I think the C-60 is quite a step up from the C-50 while the E-450 really doesn't offer much over the E-350. It will be good in Jan/Feb when the wichita and Krishna come out though. I can't wait for the performance gains on bobcat V2(Deccan)

weird. its possible that the oem that made the netbook forced it to only support 1066 since they probably just dropped the cpu in as a replacement and didnt change the bios or something.

i had the acer netbook for like a week before i returned it and the specs on the box even still said c-50 so maybe they did not take the effort to change the bios.

Just upgraded the bios to 1.06, still at current speeds, I have never once found a spec sheet that states the c-60 supports 1333 Mhz ram. I am quite certain this is only a e-450 feature. The C-60 will turbo to 1.333 Ghz(1333Mhz) in CPU frequency but the MC(memory controller) is still limited to 1066Mhz on DDR3. I would be happy to be proven wrong but unfortunately I just found it on AMD's own spec page

http://www.amd.com/us/products/note...ainstream/Pages/2011-mainstream-platform.aspx

Officially the C-60 only can support DDR3 1066.

Moving to 4 GB will give you the added headroom (browsing with a large number of tabs/multimedia content, etc).

Speedwise, see if you can get a matching 1066 MHz stick - I've had problems with my E-350 nettop when I added a 1333 MHz stick that seems to have been resolved only when I put in a 1066 MHz stick.

Hey all, I upgraded to 4 gigs of DDR 1333, cost me 23 bucks. havent noticed too much of a difference but the overhead is nice. I was able to pay it forward and install my old 2gb dimm into an N455 netbook for a family member which definitely did make a difference!

Overall, I am a solid 85% satisfied with this netbook. I can play most 720P mkv content, however certain files just chug and spike the cpu at 100% on both cores. I am using WMP HC. if I could play all my 720P content flawlessley I would be 100 percent satisfied. any ideas or sugestions on a better player that might do a better job decoding the video?

Heck, I am adjusting to playing starcraft 2 at 5FPS with all options on low. However I have noticed that most games from 2007 and earlier actually play quite well on this little thing. I also love the battery life! for 250 bucks i say it was money well spent!

I have no trouble with 720p at all with Shark007 codec pack, Have you tried it?
Still working on getting a 1080p mkv of the princess bride to work, Video is smooth but audio is not syncing properly, its a project, also I notice the AO722 has the pins on the board for another ram stick, I have ordered the memory socket and will attempt to solder it on to the board so I can have two sticks of ram.

One other thing, SC2 is horribly not optimized with any AMD cpu. I have no idea why little to no optimization was put into the works with SC2. It plays faster on my mobile i7 sandy than it does on my water cooled 4.0 Ghz Phenom 965. A Firepro 5950 vs a Radeon HD 6950, a 80w platform vs 350w. It makes absolutely no sense, Too bad blizzard makes such good games, sort of hard to boycott when they only come out with a game I'll play every 2-3 years.
